Know about? or truly known

Do you have a favorite scripture or Psalm that speaks to you over and over? One that you find yourself sharing it with others as an anchor and a sail all at the same time? Well, there is a scripture that I have tethered to throughout the years that I'd like to share with you.

Phillipians 3:10

10 That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death;

I grew up with the Bible being taught and read to me and around me, but it wasn't until I was in my 40's that it truly started to come alive to me. Actually, He came alive to me, that is God, my Father, started becoming real and tangible in my every day life. He had always been there for me, I just didn’t know it in a real way. I remember reading the Phillipians scripture one day and the first five words stuck out to me….that I may know Him.

Although, I had accepted Jesus as my Saviour as a child in Sunday school, I didn't know the reality of what had occurred with God the Father and the Holy Spirit being in me, also. I had believed that Jesus came into my heart and that God was in heaven looking down and the Holy Spirit was something I would get later on when I had a spiritual experience to get Him. I know my concept was a little wonky to say the least, but, the more I spent time in God's Word, this verse became an open door for me to actually start to get to know the truth about Him, in a a more full way. There is so much to share about this verse, but we are going to just sit with the first 5 words.

One night many years ago, I sat down with a pen and paper and began to start writing down words that I believed, and had shared in my relationship with God up to that exact moment in my life of "Knowing Him". I’ve learned that sometimes it’s better to write down things instead of just keeping them in my thoughts. This is the list I wrote down and it was quite surprising to me how much I DID know about Him. I decided to share this with you, as a way, that you also might start to see how you may know him.

Grab a yummy drink (coffee for me) and enjoy hearing about God our Father as you read this. Welcome to my living room….

Wow! I know alot about you =) and I KNOW You!

You are my God!

Did you like hearing all about Him? or maybe this made you a little uncomfortable.

There is a saying, "you can't give what you don't have". If we believe that God is a far away God, then we wouldn't be able to write a list like this. As, I began knowing that God is near, so near that he is actually in me, with me through is son Jesus by evidence of the Holy Spirit in my spirit, it will change everything.....and it did for me.

Each word I wrote was a part of what He had shown me about Himself to that moment. It really became a love letter between us.

Maybe your letter is waiting to be written. I get teary eyed everytime I read through the list I wrote so many years ago, because it was and still continues to be apart of our journey together, He and I. Your list, could start with one word….Love! He is love!

John 3:16

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

Loved by Him,

Dayna
